Johanna Zielinski is a director and photographer. Born in Poznan/Poland, she grew up in Bielefeld, where she studied German philology and literature, graduated as an occupational therapist and founded the advertising agency 23Lux. Since then she has been working as a freelance photographer under the artist's pseudonym Leni O.
From 2001 – 2010 she worked at the Theater Bielefeld. With her directing debut »Forever Art? – Andy Warhol und die Kunst« she was invited to the »undergroundzero« festival in New York in 2010.
She studied directing at the Zurich University of the Arts with Sabine Harbeke, Stephan Müller and Nicolas Stemann, among others. During her studies, she worked as a dramaturgy assistant to Malte Ubenauf for »Heimweh und Verbrechen« by Christoph Marthaler at the Schauspielhaus Hamburg and gave birth to a daughter.
In 2013 she founded the group NORMAN SPENZER together with the dramaturg Zoé Kilchenmann – under this label they have been producing bizarre theatrical happenings and their own plays ever since. Johanna Zielinski works freelance in Switzerland and Germany at the Luzerner Theater, Kellertheater Winterthur, Theater Winkelwiese Zurich and the tjg. theater junge generation Dresden, among others. In the season 2018/19, she successfully completed further training as a director for puppet and object theatre at the tjg. theater junge generation Dresden and the Hochschule für Schauspielkunst »Ernst Busch« Berlin.
